Hello and welcome to an extra Link Round Up for the week! You are probably asking “Is this a goof? This is Monday, not Friday which I know is the designated Link Round Up Day!” And to answer your question, no, it is not a goof. The reason I am posting an extra Link Round Up this week is because last week was such a whirlwind of activity for me I did not have an opportunity to write a Link Round Up. So to make up for that, I am posting a couple links today as an apology.
Community Research Laboratory wants to give a BIG shout out to OCHIN member clinic Progressive Community Health Center in Milwaukee, WI. They recently were awarded $618,000 from Froedtert Hospital to help set up mammography and imaging services lab. Read more about the grant here!
CareOregon is trying a new approach to treat chronic and persistent wounds and it involves prescribing healthy, protein packed meals. I could go into more detail, but you should really just head over to OPB and read about this new program.
When we talk about opioid addiction, we usually speak broadly about it: we talk about statistics, we talk about the drugs, we talk about prescribing practices, and we talk about the types of people affected by it. One thing we need to do more though is focus on the stories of those who are addicted, humanize suffers and understand how they became addicted to these drugs. US News and World Report is doing just that in a three part article chronicling the lives of four individuals who became addicted to opioids and where their addiction took them. Read the first part here.
