Hello again and welcome back to Community Research Laboratory’s very own Link Round Up: Palindrome Date Edition! This week we are going to look at the value of CHCs and a new wrinkle in the advancement of telemedicine.
As the ongoing fight for what will become of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) continues to carry on, reports keep coming in showing the benefit of the ACA. Take for example a new Capital Link report which examines the “effect health centers have on jobs and the economy, savings to the health system, and access to care for vulnerable populations.” The list of benefits is fascinating and shows how healthcare is interconnected with local and state issues, so please read more from the Daily Democrat here concerning this report.
Telemedicine is steadily becoming the norm, but concerns on how telemedicine is used (not as a replacement for in-person visits, but as an addition to in-person visits) are starting to show. Wired reports that the overuse of both telemedicine and in-person visits adds strain to “an already overburdened health care system.” Read more from Wired on the issue on the current state of telemedicine.
